As students in the GTA wrap up back-to-school shopping and prepares to return to their routines, some elected school trustees continue to be locked out of their email and other administrative functions due to a provincial takeover of five school boards.

Ontario's Education Minister Paul Calandra has appointed supervisors who have taken over five of the province's biggest school boards, including the Toronto District School Board , to address concerns of "financial mismanagement" and growing deficits.

Calandra told CBC last week that he is considering eliminating school trustees altogether as part of a review of the provincial governance model .

But some Toronto teachers are not happy and said the province's decision seems undemocratic.
