The victim, a man in his 40s, had fired shots at four suspects who were attempting to break into his home prior to deputies arriving.
The four suspects ran off, OCSO said.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the victim went to unlock the door and one of the deputies "accidentally discharged his agency firearm and struck the victim," OCSO said.
The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was released the same day.
OCSO said the deputy is on temporary, paid administrative leave.
