Jerry Adler, an actor who portrayed one of Tony Soprano’s advisors on the hit HBO show “The Sopranos,” has died at the age of 96, his family confirmed on Saturday.

According to the New York Post , Adler died in New York City in his sleep.

Adler was known for his role as “Herman ‘Hesh’ Rabkin” on “The Sopranos” where he appeared in 28 episodes over the show’s six seasons. While the character wasn’t one of the mob bosses in the show, Rabkin was featured as one of Tony Soprano’s allies.

Aside from his time on “The Sopranos” Adler also starred on hit TV shows “The Good Wife” and “Rescue Me.” Before becoming a TV actor, Adler had accumulated 53 Broadway credits as a stage manager, producer, or director throughout his career.
