Denver finally has its downtown soccer field -- well sort of.
No, it's not the new professional NWSL stadium. Denver is opening a pop-up soccer field in Skyline Park, just steps off of 16th Street.
A kickoff event is scheduled Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the field, located at 16th and Arapahoe, between 15th and 16th streets.
The new venue, organized by Visa, Street Soccer USA and Bank of America, brings two small-sided turf fields that can be combined into one larger field to the heart of downtown Denver.
"This initiative reflects the shared belief that access to safe, inspiring spaces can uplift and strengthen local communities through the unifying power of soccer," event organizers said in a news release announcing the venue.
Mayor Mike Johnston will deliver remarks at the kickoff event
