California Republican lawmakers and the Dhillon Law Group on Monday announced the filing of an emergency petition with the California Supreme Court that aims to block a special election on redistricting in the fall.

The lawsuit claims that California’s Democratic-controlled Legislature violated the state constitution and laws around redistricting by preparing congressional maps that they do not have the power to draw.
