A popular Southern food restaurant defended its rebranding efforts on Monday after facing backlash from conservatives for several days, according to a new report.

Cracker Barrel apologized for the way its rebranding has been communicated in a statement to the Wall Street Journal. However, the company did not say it would change the direction of its rebrand.

“We could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be,” Cracker Barrel said. “We know we won’t get everything right the first time, but we’ll keep testing, learning and listening to our guests and employees.”

Conservatives have bashed the restaurant's rebrand for nearly a week. MAGA ally Robby Starbuck said the rebrand was like "having our culture and heritage stripped from us." MAGA commentator and podcast host Benny Johnson said, "White people are about to riot" because the company stripped the man and wooden barrel images from its logo.

MAGA world has also compared the rebrand to other recent issues involving major companies. For example, Bud Light received backlash from conservatives after running an ad featuring Dylan Mulvaney. Conservatives also lashed out at Target when it announced a Pride Month collection in 2023.

Both companies have since stopped publicly supporting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies.

Cracker Barrel said the backlash it's received has not impacted the company's values.

“Our values haven’t changed, and the heart and soul of Cracker Barrel haven’t changed,” the company told WSJ.
