When the Trump administration ended construction on a nearly completed wind-power project off the coast of Rhode Island and Connecticut last week, it also ended the prospect of significantly lower electricity costs for the residents who would have benefited from it.
Despite President Donald Trump’s recent Truth Social posts claiming that wind and solar power are “the scam of the century” and responsible for increasing electricity costs, the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the federal agency that tracks and analyzes energy data to help inform policy decisions, says the price increases are largely due to increased demand and utility investments in upgrading electricity infrastructure.
