INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis officials have shut down at least three local recycling locations over the past week, citing "bad actors" who are illegally dumping at the centers.
"More bad actors are ruining recycle sites around Marion County for their fellow Hoosiers," the Indy Department of Public Works said on Facebook.
Indy DPW announced Monday that two recycling locations have been shut down: • 8130 Southport Road (closure effective immediately) • 71st Street & Binford Boulevard (closure effective Aug. 26)
Both of these locations are on property owned by Kroger and are being closed at the request of management, Indy DPW said.
"We currently have no new locations willing to host recycle bins, so there will be fewer sites for recycling," officials wrote.
