One former Lehigh University student had fraud charges dropped and another pleaded no contest to lesser charges, concluding the prosecution of four former students accused of fraudulently accepting $590,000 in financial aid.
Each of the four students came from Ghana to Lehigh University. After charges were filed, each was expelled and lost his student visa.
“It is our understanding that they ultimately will be deported back to Ghana,” said Northampton County Assistant District Attorney Michael Weinert.
But none of the four admitted any wrongdoing and none was obliged to pay back the amount he was accused of stealing.
All four of the students were accused of faking transcripts and inflating grades to gain admission to Lehigh.
