A Scottsdale man tricked hundreds of Arizonans facing foreclosure into signing over their properties based on a false promise that he could help them stay in their homes, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said.

Mayes announced Aug. 25 that she had filed a civil lawsuit against the man, Edward Trenton Albarracin, who also uses the name Trenton Edwards, and over 50 shell companies he controlled. The lawsuit alleges Albarracin convinced people to sign over their deeds after sending door-knockers to homes listed for foreclosure. Those door-knockers were paid bonuses, at times $500, for convincing people to participate, Mayes said.
