Supporters of the "Stop Lava Ridge" movement and Rep. David Leavitt, R-Twin Falls, are celebrating a potential delay in an electric transmission line project proposed in Twin Falls and Jerome counties.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Tuesday informed Great Basin Transmission LLC that a filing it submitted in April is "deficient" and it must provide more information within 30 days.
"This win belongs first and foremost to the engaged citizens who refused to be ignored," Leavitt stated in a Friday press release.
Great Basin Transmission owns the Southwest Intertie Project North, a proposed 285-mile, 500-kilovolt transmission line project that would build transmission towers to connect the Midpoint Substation in Jerome to the Robinson Summit Substation near Ely, Nevada.
