GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Pitt Community College and the City of Greenville are coming together to build affordable housing for the Greenville community.
The 50-in-10 Affordable Housing Initiative launched this morning with a groundbreaking at the first construction site, donated by the city, on Davis and Cherry streets.
The Pitt students who are in the college’s construction program have always built houses within the program, but now, instead of auctioning them off, they’ll go on sites like the one where the initiative was launched today and help provide the community with more accessible, affordable housing.
The goal of the 50-in-10 program is to build 50 new affordable homes in the next 10 years.
