SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Fox James Bellanger has been sentenced to over six years in prison for his involvement in the fentanyl overdose death of a 16-year-old, following his guilty plea to Second-Degree Manslaughter in July 2025.
This sentencing comes after his codefendants, Anthony James Costello and Crystal Marie Swenson, were also sentenced for their roles.
On March 2, 2024, law enforcement says Costello gave the victim money to buy drugs from Swenson, with Bellanger assisting Swenson in the transaction. The victim and Costello consumed the drugs together, leading to the victim's fatal overdose.
An autopsy confirmed fentanyl as the cause of death.
The case was prosecuted by Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office upon the request of Benton County Attorney Kathleen Reuter.
