A 35-year-old East Texas man appeared in federal court Monday on charges of attempting to commit bank fraud, aggravated identity theft and impersonating an officer or employee of the United States, U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei announced.
Daniel Ricardo Field, who was previously in custody on related charges, was transferred to federal authorities.
What happened
The three-count indictment, returned Aug. 13, alleges Field impersonated an FBI special agent in an attempt to defraud Ally Bank of $93,462.56. On or about April 22, he also allegedly used another individual’s personal information such as name, birthdate and Social Security number in an attempt to execute the scheme.
