BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) -- A Normal man will be held pending the outcome of his case after allegedly giving abortion-inducing medicine to a pregnant woman without her consent.
Emerson Evans, 31, appeared Monday in McLean County Circuit Court as prosecutors asked a judge to detain him pending trial.
And after a 30-minute hearing, Judge Amy McFarland agreed and granted their request.
Audible sobs could be heard from those in the courtroom as McFarland handed down her decision.
Evans faces two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child, a felony that could send him to prison for up to 60 years. It's akin to a first-degree murder charge.
