ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — Roads around the Pulse nightclub memorial site in Orlando were temporarily shut down Monday after a package was found in the area.
The Orlando Police Department closed down several roads near the crosswalk on West Esther Street just before 6 p.m., according to reports by NBC affiliate WESH.
The scene was cleared about 45 minutes later after Orlando Fire Department bomb squad crews checked the package.
Officials have not said what was inside the package. According to authorities, the package had Walmart branding on it and was dropped off outside the memorial.
The roads were reopened just before 7 p.m. Monday.
The crosswalk was previously painted rainbow to honor the 49 victims in the June 2016 massacre at the nightclub. It has been the subject of controversy ever
