INDIANAPOLIS — The trial is underway for a former Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer charged with raping a domestic violence victim.

Investigators say Myron Howard went back to a house where he had just arrested the woman's boyfriend. The jury must consider if the sex was consensual.

IMPD fired Howard after criminal charges were filed against him. He admits he had sex with a woman inside a house on North Olney Street in January 2024, just a few minutes after her boyfriend was arrested for domestic battery. The woman allegedly suffered a bloody lip and injured jaw before she called 911.

But after everyone left the scene, Howard drove around the block and came back to the house just after midnight.
