NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency records show Smitty’s Supply Inc., on Highway 51 in Roseland, has been on investigators’ radar since at least 2022.
EPA records show that from April 1, 2022-March 31, 2025, the agency found significant “non-compliance” with the Federal Clean Water Act every single quarter at Smitty’s Supply.
According to the EPA’s website, inspectors found Smitty’s Supply released more than the allowable limit of multiple pollutants. That included:
Organic carbon levels that were 1,980% over the allowable limit between April-August 2024. Some examples of organic carbon, according to the EPA, are methane and ethanol.
Oil and grease levels 416% over the allowable limit in that same quarter.
Fecal coliform levels that were 400% over the allowable
