HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- Evansville officials passed a wheel tax at the Evansville City Council meeting today with an 8-1 vote.
According to officials, the tax would make it so vehicle registration would cost $25 more a year, motorcycle registration would cost $15 extra and heavy trucks registration would cost $35 more.
City officials estimate the tax could bring in about $2.7 million to fix roads.
Mount Vernon, Indiana leaders voted against its own “wheel tax” earlier this month.
