The Pittsburgh Steelers will release rookie kick Ben Sauls if they can not trade him before the cut down deadline tomorrow, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The Miami Dolphins could be the team to watch if a trade is executed, as starting kicker Jason Sanders suffered a hip injury that will keep him out for a month.

Sauls went 4 of 4, including two kicks from 49 and 50 yards, respectively, against the Panthers. His efforts were so impressive that head coach Mike Tomlin gave him a shoutout in his postgame press conference, understanding that Sauls may have just earned himself a job elsewhere.

“Really happy for Ben Sauls, the work he was able to show us tonight, man. Good for him,” Tomlin said of the kicker.
