One former Florida Gators quarterback will need to find a new home in the NFL.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler , the Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to release quarterback Kyle Trask , who spent the first four years of his career as the team's backup. Per the report, Tampa Bay will put Trask on IR for a shoulder injury before granting him his release.
Trask, 27, red shirted at Florida to start his collegiate career in 2016. He remained with the Gators for all five years, becoming the starter 2 1/2 games into the 2019 season after former starter Feleipe Franks broke his ankle.
During Trask's senior season in 2020, he set the Gators' single-season passing touchdown record with 43 scores in the air. He finished the year as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, finishing fourth behind
