President Trump's executive orders on cash bail could affect New Mexico

President Donald Trump took aim at pretrial detention programs that don’t utilize cash bail with executive orders he signed Monday morning.

Trump has been flexing his authority over the nation’s capital in recent weeks by deploying national guardsmen to crack down on crime, and one of the executive orders he signed specifically targets Washington D.C. The other order is broader and could affect New Mexico, where voters overhauled the bail system almost nine years ago.
