YANCEY COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Yancey County Sheriff’s Office reports multiple emergency response agencies worked together to rescue an injured hiker on Monday.

An operation began on Sunday near Celo Knob in the South Toe area and continued through the night in mountain terrain, according to officials.

Officials said responders coordinated ground teams from South Toe Fire and Rescue and aerial support, and a NC Highway Patrol helicopter carried out the mission.
