SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. -- The president of the Sun Prairie Board of Education resigned Monday evening, a district spokesperson confirmed.
Katey Kamoku stepped down with immediate effect, telling the Board " the time has come for me to prioritize my children and my job."
Kamoku's resignation leaves a seat open for a Board appointment. An election for the seat is already set for April, however the Board is working to establish next steps so community members can apply for the open seat in the interim.
Kamoku's resignation comes amid scrutiny of the district over the handling of former Sun Prairie West High School dean Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier, who was charged last month with child sex crimes.
