The 13-year-old boy who was fatally shot outside the Pico Rivera gas station where his mother worked has been identified, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.

Saith Toledo Mendez was shot and killed Saturday night in what investigators described as a random act. The shooting was reported at around 11:45 p.m. on the 8800 block of Whittier Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials said the gunman walked by the teenager and shot him in the back multiple times. Law enforcement said they have video of the shooter, but will not be releasing it to the public at this time. Investigators say the teen was shot at least four times. Macy Jenkins reports for the N
