NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Monday night, city leaders are meeting to discuss allegations of a toxic workplace at Nashville’s emergency communications center. They are the ones who pick up the phone when you call 911.
Dispatchers are already working in a trauma-based field, and some allege that management at Nashville’s Department of Emergency Communications makes the job even harder.
Ashley Gray said she worked at DEC for almost 18 years until things turned sour.
“I deserved better as an employee,” Gray said.
Dozens of current DEC employees also said they feel they deserve better, according to a new survey done by their union, DEC and the city’s Women’s Caucus. Many in the survey described their place of work as “toxic.”
