Trump Says He’s Changing the Name of the Department of Defense: ‘We’re Just Gonna Do It’

President Donald Trump said he wants to rename the Department of Defense, and that if he needs legislative approval, “Congress will go along” with it.

The U.S. Department of Defense was created by the National Security Act of 1947, and is the successor department to the U.S. Department of War.

On Monday, the president met with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at the White House, where he oddly reminded his counterpart about Korean women who were forced into sex slavery by the Japanese in World War II. At one point, Trump indicated that one of the cabinet departments will likely get a name change.
