Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier may need a strong 2025 season to keep his job, but his future may hinge less on his decisions and more on the health of one key player.

Napier has an ace up his sleeve in quarterback DJ Lagway, who had a promising 2024 season. The 6-foot-3 signal caller recorded 1,915 passing yards, 12 touchdown passes, and nine interceptions while completing 59.9 percent of his throws.

Moreover, Florida ended last season on a four-game win streak with wins over a ranked LSU Tigers and Ole Miss teams. As a result, CBS Sports' Damien Harris states that the reason Napier is entering his fourth season as head coach of the Gators is thanks to Lagway.
