ELSIE, Mich. (WILX) - The Village of Elise has a big change coming its way.
The village council decided to cut ties with its volunteer fire department, leaving operations in limbo.
The vote was unanimous and was to save the village money. Council members say the expenses were unsustainable.
The State previously put the village into an emergency deficit elimination plan.
The fire department expressed concern with the decision on social media, saying it appears to be a political tug of war.
“You know it was stated that this was a politically driven situation and that is the furthest from the truth. There is nothing political driving this,” said Village President Jason Freeman.
