Almost from the moment Gov. Joe Lombardo talked about Nevadans feeling pain from President Donald Trump’s tariffs during a TV interview, Democrats pounced.

They hope to make it an issue in their effort to make Lombardo a one-term governor in the 2026 election.

The claim that Lombardo thinks Nevadans need to feel a little pain has become a constant feature in Nevada State Democratic Party news releases on every topic from housing and jobs reports to tourism and insurance.

The party created a YouTube video with the title : “In response to Trump's Tariffs, Joe Lombardo Said Nevadans ‘need a little pain.’”

Lombardo’s Democratic opponent in the 2026 governor’s race — Attorney General Aaron Ford — brings it up regularly.
