El Paso police are conducting a murder-suicide investigation after two bodies were found inside a far East Side home , authorities said.

Officers responded to a welfare check about 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, in the 11800 block of Chelita Drive, El Paso Police Department spokesman Stephanie Shields said in a news release.

The officers found 58-year-old Jose Urrieta dead inside the home with a gunshot wound to his head, the news release states. Officers also found 58-year-old Lourdes Urrieta, who police identified as the victim,
