CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) - During a news conference on Nevada’s cybersecurity attack on Wednesday, Aug. 27, the state’s top cyber official said a forensic investigation found evidence that indicates data has been moved outside of Nevada’s network by malicious actors.

Timothy Galluzi, Executive Director, Governor’s Technology Office, said the state’s data center operations team has been working around-the-clock since they detected anomalous activity in the server infrastructure on Sunday, Aug. 24.

“Our teams acted immediately, and by late Sunday our concerns where confirmed: the state of Nevada has become the target of a sophisticated, ransomware-based cybersecurity attack,” Galluzi said.
