A bomb squad was called into action after a grenade was found in old money box near a park in Coventry . The discovery was made by a member of the public near to Wyken Slough.
Police initially responded to the 999 call after a hand grenade was found in an old money box left in bushes. A police dog unit was among the initial response.
Officers sealed off the area and called for back-up from Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts. The team arrived at the scene and carried out a controlled explosion of the grenade, West Midlands Police confirmed to CoventryLive.
