Trump says a lot of stuff. What he does leaves D.C. no better off.

Donald Trump says he wants to fry D.C. criminals, even though the District abolished capital punishment in 1981, hasn’t executed anyone since 1957 and has a city council that would sooner legalize heroin than adopt the death penalty. Trump says he’s clearing out not just the crooks but also the rats: the rodents that far outnumber human criminals in the city. “We’re getting rid of them, too,” Trump said, declaring the job as good as done before it starts.
