Taco Bell's Decades Y2K Menu sees the return of five iconic items from the 2000s including the Double Decker Taco, 7-Layer Burrito, Chili Cheese Burrito, Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos and the Caramel Apple Empanada.

Taco Bell is restarting the 21st century with the return of five popular food items from the 2000s.

The fast food giant announced its new Decades Y2K Menu on Aug. 28, treating long-time customers to a (Baja) Blast from the past. Starting on Sept. 9, customers can once again enjoy the Double Decker Taco, 7-Layer Burrito, Chili Cheese Burrito, and more on menus nationwide.

The restaurant chain is also adding a new $9 Discovery Luxe Box that comes with a soft drink, two Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, nachos, and a Crunchwrap Supreme, which launched in the 2000s.

"No one did the 2000s like Taco Bell. That era gave us some of our most iconic menu items, including the Crunchwrap Supreme, which remains one of our best-sellers two decades later," Taco Bell Chief Marketing Officer Taylor Montgomery said in a news release. "Fans have never stopped asking for these items, and honestly, we’ve missed them too."

This is not the first time the company has honored a nostalgic menu. Taco Bell launched its initial Decades Menu last fall, bringing back five items for a limited time that represented different decades starting from the 1960s. Representing the 2000s was the Caramel Apple Empanada, which is also returning in the new Y2K version of the menu.

Taco Bell reward members can enjoy the Carmel Apple Empanada earlier as it will roll out nationwide between Sept. 2 to 8, according to the company.

Decades Menu items and prices

  • Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos: Priced at $2.49, the taco swaps the original shell with the tangy Cool Ranch Doritos shell while still featuring beef, lettuce, and cheddar cheese.
  • Double Decker Taco: The 1995 original item that gained widespread popularity in 2006 wraps a bean-filled soft tortilla over a crunchy taco shell and is filled with savory seasoned beef, lettuce, and shredded cheese. It is priced at $2.49.
  • 7-Layer Burrito: Priced at $2.49, the vegetarian favorite wraps a flour tortilla over layers of refried beans, rice, reduced-fat sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a three-cheese blend.
  • Chili Cheese Burrito: The cult favorite, priced at $2.99, wraps a flour tortilla over hearty chili and cheddar cheese.
  • Caramel Apple Empanada: Priced at $2.99, the sweet treat returns to Decades Menu with its goldencrust, apple pieces, and a caramel filling glory.

Taco Bell added new Refrescas drinks

The new Decades Menu comes after Taco Bell launched a drink lineup of Refrescas with multiple flavor options. The lineup included the following beverages:

  • Agua Refrescas (three flavor options): A Taco Bell twist on the beloved Mexican beverage, mixed with real freeze-dried fruit pieces and green tea to provide a subtle boost of caffeine (52 mg per beverage); Available in strawberry passionfruit, dragonfruit berry, and mango peach flavors. The beverages cost $3.99 for a 20-ounce drink.
  • Rockstar Energy Refrescas (two flavor options): Available in pineapple lime or tropical punch flavor, each drink delivers a boost of energy (200 mg of caffeine per beverage). The drinks are priced at $4.49 for a 20-ounce beverage.
  • Refresca Freeze: A frozen take on the Refresca lineup, featuring real freeze-dried fruit pieces; available in a strawberry lime flavor. The frozen drinks are available in 16 or 20-ounce options and cost $3.79 and $3.99, respectively.
