Two dead, three injured after house fire in Limestone County

Two people are dead, and three others are injured after a house fire in Limestone County.

Firefighters say they got a call a 7-year-old and a 27-year-old were trapped in a home off Alabama Highway 251 in Ardmore at 12:19 Thursday morning.

Five people were inside the home when the fire started. A mother, her child, and an infant managed to escape with minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Despite life-saving measures, the 7-year-old and 27-year-old were pronounced dead at the scene.

State Fire Marshal officials and Limestone County authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. The house is considered a total loss, and a neighboring home suffered damage.

One firefighter was injured during the response and was taken to the hospital but is expected to be released soon.
