The Winfield Police Department has a first-time second in command.
The Town Council on Tuesday swore in Todd Koster as its new Deputy Chief.
Town Marshal Robert K. Byrd, who announced Koster’s hiring, said Koster is a 27-year veteran of the South Holland, Illinois, police department and “brings a wealth of law enforcement experience to the town of Winfield.”
“I am pleased to announce that Todd Koster has become the first Deputy Police Chief for the Town of Winfield Police Department. I welcome everyone here tonight, especially his family, to his official swearing-in ceremony,” Byrd said.
Koster, who was born and raised in South Holland, came with a group of both family and South Holland police supporters who applauded and took photos of Koster by Winfield Clerk-Treasurer Michael Lamber
