After a long spate of summer heat, a thunderstorm might sound pretty good right now.

The National Weather Service has been keeping an eye on the possible development of a storm, but what are the real odds Seattle will see some rumbly rain on Thursday?

Not likely. At all.

The best chances for a thunderstorm are relegated to higher terrain in the Cascades and the east side of the Olympics, said weather service meteorologist Steve Reedy.

If anything should try to move off the ridgetops, Reedy doesn’t imagine it’ll stay together too long. That means the Seattle metro area’s odds of seeing lightning are slim to none.

But if you’re holding out for some rain, Seattle has a 20% chance of seeing showers on Saturday and Sunday, Reedy said.
