FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend has released a statement on Thursday following Wednesday’s mass shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis.

Two young children were killed and 17 others, including 14 children, were hurt when police say 23-year-old Robin Westman fired shots towards children during Mass at the Annunciation Catholic School.

Thursday morning, Bishop Rhoades sent a statement saying the diocese is mourning the victims’ deaths and is praying for the full recovery of those who were hurt.

He also called for parishioners to re-commit themselves to work on eradicating gun violence in America.
