JACKSON, Miss. (WDAM) - The Mississippi Department of Archives and History has announced that the gun and its holster used in 14-year-old Emmett Till’s murder have been acquired.

The Foundation for Mississippi History acquired the artifacts to donate them to MDAH. The weapon and its holster are now on display at the Two Mississippi Museums: Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.

The artifacts were acquired from a Mississippi family who are not connected to the case. The artifacts were owned by J.W. Milam and his half-brother Roy Bryant, the two men who confessed to murdering Till.
