CLEVELAND — The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) has provided more details about the shooting of a suspect by a trooper near Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) on Wednesday.

In a release issued on Thursday, the OSHP reports that the incident began at approximately 5:25 p.m. as troopers attempted to make a traffic stop on a KIA K4 that was operating without a license plate on Woodland Avenue in downtown Cleveland.

Officials say the trooper turned on the cruiser's emergency overhead lights, but the suspect vehicle failed to stop.
