Traffic stop leads to discovery of dangerous drugs, landing repeat offender in state prison.

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A routine traffic stop in June of 2023 has resulted in a 15-year prison sentence for a convicted felon found guilty of trafficking fentanyl, heroin, and possession of methamphetamine.

On Monday, August 25, 2025, Judge James R. Baxley sentenced 41-year-old Emmanuel Cazeau to 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections. Cazeau was found guilty earlier this year on multiple drug-related charges.

The case began when Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Robertson pulled over Cazeau’s silver Chevrolet SUV for failing to stop at an intersection. While Sgt. Robertson was writing a warning, K9 Handler Semento and his partner, Jim, conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle. K9 Jim
