SAGINAW, MI — Who will be the next Saginaw City Council member?

That question is scheduled for an answer on Monday, Sept. 22, during a special meeting aimed at appointing a person to fill the nine-member council’s recently-vacated seat, Saginaw City Hall officials said.

The announcement came less than one day after Monique Lamar-Silvia was sentenced for election fraud-related felonies at a court hearing. The sentencing triggered her expulsion from the council, a move outlined by a unanimous council vote earlier this week.

Now, for the first time in nearly four years, the council will choose one of its own members because of a vacancy.
