SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WREX) — Areas hardest hit by mid-August severe thunderstorms will see state survey crews assess the damage in early September.

Preliminary damage assessment teams will be visiting Cook, Will, Boone, and McHenry counties from Sept. 3-7. These teams aim to verify storm and flood damage that occurred from Aug. 16-19.

The teams will consist of representatives from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and local emergency management personnel. They will assess damage to homes and essential systems like HVAC units and water heaters.
