SAN FRANCISCO—On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, a routine traffic stop turned into a wild goose chase. The police officers of the San Francisco Police Department Tenderloin Station attempted a routine traffic stop on a suspected violent felon.

It started near Market Street and Jones Street at 12:45 p.m. Since the driver of the vehicle did not want to obey the orders of the officers to stop his vehicle, a vehicle chase between the suspect and the police ensued. The suspect was heading towards Embarcadero. The chase ended near Pier 30. He managed to evade the officers till then. Although police reinforcements were called in, it was later called off.
