CHICAGO (WLS) -- Organizers say the 2025 Mexican Independence Day parade will go on next month despite fear among the community due to ongoing immigration enforcement.

Organizers said this year will be no different, adding that this year's parade is not only a celebration of heritage, but also a statement of resilience.

"We're here to let people know that we are not going to be stopping from celebrating our roots, our heritage, our culture," said activist Vicky Lugo. "We do have a contingency plan that we are going to have volunteers through the parade route to help secure areas and also if they see any immigration agents we're going to be communicating."
