The fire was reported around 11:45 a.m. in the 3500 block of Sea Ridge Road. Units with the Oceanside Fire Department arrived to the scene minutes later and reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage.

Dispatch had received reports that the family dog was still inside the house, authorities said.

Fire crews worked to suppress the fire while simultaneously searching inside for the dog.

No human occupants were found inside, but firefighters were able to locate and rescue the dog, according to OFD. The dog suffered mild smoke inhalation but is expected to fully recover, authorities a
