North Bay’s $61.4 million twin-pad arena and recreation centre is on time, on budget, and will be open next August, according to North Bay Mayor Peter Chirico.
Municipal and federal politicians, representatives from EllisDon, and community user groups joined together Thursday morning to sign a white beam that was placed inside the new Community and Recreation Centre at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex.

Michelle Fish from the North Bay Ringuette Association said she didn’t want to miss this special occasion.
“We’re excited to have more ice to grow the sport,” she said. “North Bay is a town full of ice sports, so it’s not always easy (to get ice).”
