FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. —
A man was shot and killed by a deputy after he fired a gun at first responders in South Carolina on Wednesday, according to the Florence County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said they responded to a call on Anderson Field Road in Effingham about a person who had discharged a firearm at Florence County EMS. Latest Forecast

Following a standoff and negotiation, the suspect was shot by a Florence County deputy, the sheriff's office said.
The suspect died.
Sheriff T.J. Joye has requested that the incident be investigated by South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
