KEARNEY, Neb. —

Two people were found dead at the crash site of an overdue aircraft near Kearney, officials said.

Around 10:07 a.m., first responders found the crash site northeast of Kearney with assistance from the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office and Kearney Police Department drones, according to authorities.

Officials said the two occupants of the aircraft were found dead at the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported an overdue aircraft that was routed to the Kearney Regional Airport and had lost contact with the plane around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

Investigators said the last known location of the aircraft was in an area several miles north of the Kearney Regional Airport.
